Project for the new building of state property office in the area of the former Cinema Embassy, in Bologna city center.
The former cinema was built in the thirties on the plot of Palazzina Magnani, a historical suburban villa of the XVIII century, and presents a facade in continuity with the historical building.
The project solution is a mediation between ancient and modern, with the aim of guaranteeing the respect and enhancement of the historical context and the realization, at the same time, of a modern, functional, technological and environmentally sustainable office building.
The facades of the former cinema are maintained as mediation element with the historical context; inside this old enveloping wall, but separeted, the new office building a modern building for office is conceived as a prism of glass: a technological box , with a modern functional layout, high energy efficiency (NZEB building), technological facilities for building automation.
The foundations of the new office building are studied to avoid damages to the archaeological remains discovered under the cinema room.
A new atrium signalizes the office building on the street, with a front line in dialectical relationship with the facade of the historical buiding,while a multifunctional meeting room (opened also for external uses) is designed beyond the facade of the nearby wing of Palazzina Magnani.
